In North America, this is the Single Crochet and the abbreviation is (sc). In the United Kingdom, this is a double crochet and the abbreviation is (dc), but for this lesson we will refer to it, North American style, as a Single Crochet (sc).
This is the stitch that is the basis for most patterns in the PixieKitten Library.
Step 1. Insert the hook into the second chain from the hook, * yarn over and draw the yarn through the work as shown in this picture.
Step 2. Yarn over again and pull the yarn through all the loops on the hook following the arrow in this picture.
Step 3. This picture shows the complete single crochet (sc). Insert hook into the next stitch and continue from * in Step 1 in this sequence.
Practicing this stitch until your stitches are even will make your projects go smoother.
