Step 1. As shown in this picture, start with the Slip Knot and then make a Yarn Over.
Step 2. To complete the chain pull the yarn over through the slip stitch, this makes your first chain.
To make a chain repeat this procedure over and over. Each stitch is another link in the chain. Do not count the stitch on the hook as a chain stitch.
This is the shortest crochet stitch. It is used for shaping or joining.
The first drawing shows the slip stitch taking the yarn to another part of the work for the next stage. In the second stitch from the hook, insert the hook in to the chain and yarn over then pull the hook back through the work and the loop.
The second drawing shows the procedure for making a chain ring. Put the hook through the first chain loop and yarn over and draw the hook back through the work and the hook.
Note: This is not the same as a Magic Circle
