PixieKitten's beginning were found in the bottom of a bag of various yarn scraps from previous projects. Bothered by the constant waste of part balls of yarn, the search began for a use. This lead to the idea of making toys and gifts for friends and family. Searching the Internet for a crocheted Golden Retriever, found nothing but cartoon-like (amigurumi) patterns. Searching the local library and magazines seemed also to be a dead end. The lack of patterns just made it all the more imperative that he have a crocheted dog to honour his faithful, loyal and loving animal. This need drove the creation of the pattern for Josh, the Golden Retriever Puppy.

After showing the dog to family and friends, one friend suggested that there is a market for this type of thing and the dog should be offered for sale. The idea was dismissed because there would not be enough time to make the dogs or animals and sell them. After sleeping on it and mulling it over, eventually the idea of selling the patterns rather than the finished items was reached.

This is where the research began. Searches on the internet revealed that there were gaps in the patterns that are available. A website that filled some of those gaps could be well received, so with this knowledge in mind, a website could be created to display and sell the patterns. The decision made, the website idea started and really got going.

And www.PixieKitten.com was born. It was about one month since the first pattern was created to the start of the website design. And then it didn't take long once it was started to really get going. The website name came from the family pet which is a Pixie-Bob Cat named Mystic.

It is PixieKitten's intention to strive to keep things interesting and exciting with creative patterns and designs, extra stuff, and providing crocheters with new and unique creations. There are many ideas for future patterns and they will be developed over time. Check back often for what's new.
